The cutting process of diamonds

2021-08-06
A diamond blank looks unremarkable, and it must be carefully cut, ground and processed before it can become our usual sparkling diamond. Therefore, the turning of diamonds directly affects the value of diamonds, as detailed below. Of course, the most ideal cutting effect is to keep the maximum weight of the diamond, minimize the defects and fully display the beauty of the diamond, so as to make the diamond shine brilliantly. The general cutting process includes the following steps: 1. Marking (marking): This is the first step of diamond cutting. First, check the drill blank and mark the diamond surface. The person doing this work has rich experience and is proficient in processing technology. The ultimate goal is to produce the largest, cleanest and most perfect diamond, so as to reflect the value of diamond as high as possible. The scriber must pay attention to two points: keeping the maximum weight as much as possible and minimizing the inclusions. The scriber uses a magnifying glass to study the structure of the drill blank. If it is a large diamond, this work may take several months, while it takes several minutes for ordinary drill blanks. However, no matter how small the drill blank is, every diamond must be inspected in detail to make a correct judgment. The scribe marked the drill blank with Indian ink, indicating that the drill blank should be divided along this line. Generally, as far as possible, the lines are drawn along the natural grain direction of diamonds.
